Q: What is an Item Passport?

An Item Passport is a digital record for a physical item — like a real passport, but for your stuff. It stores the item's details, photos, receipts, serial number, and proof of purchase in one place. Each passport gets a unique QR tag so anyone who finds the item can report it to you — no login required.

Q: How does the QR tag work if I lose something?

When someone finds your item, they scan the QR tag with any smartphone camera — no app needed. They see a contact page and can send you a message directly. You receive a notification, respond, and arrange the return. Your private contact details are never shown to the finder.

Q: How does the Auto receipt scanner work?

Take a photo of your receipt and our Auto scanner reads it automatically — extracting item name, brand, store, price, and purchase date. If your receipt has multiple items, you can select which ones to create Passports for and create them all in one click. It takes about 10 seconds per item.

Q: Can I create a Passport without signing up?

Yes. You can create a Passport as a guest — no account needed. You'll get a private link to view your Passport. When you're ready to save it to an account, just click 'Claim this Passport' and sign up — your Passport is linked automatically.

Q: Is my data secure? Who can see my passport?

Your passport is private by default. Only you can see the full details. If you attach a QR tag, a finder who scans it sees only a limited contact form — not your receipts, personal information, or passport contents. All data is encrypted and stored on secure AWS servers.

Q: What can I store in a Passport?

Receipts, photos, documents, videos, serial numbers, purchase date, store name, price, and notes. You can also attach business cards to items and add multiple receipts per item. Everything is searchable and downloadable as a Proof Pack PDF.
