What is ItemRecover?
ItemRecover is a private proof-of-ownership vault for physical things you care about: electronics, bikes, tools, jewelry, luggage, collectibles, and business equipment.
You create an ItemRecover Passport for an item, add receipts, photos, serial numbers, documents, and notes, then export the proof if you ever need insurance, police, resale, warranty, or recovery documentation.
What is an ItemRecover Passport?
An ItemRecover Passport is a digital ownership record for one physical item. It keeps the item name, receipt, serial number, photos, documents, warranty dates, notes, linked IR Tags, and ownership history in one place.
The stronger the Passport, the easier it is to prove what you owned, when you bought it, and what evidence you have.
Is ItemRecover really free?
Yes. You can create a free account, save ItemRecover Passports, keep receipts, use private finder lookup, and export proof. Paid add-ons are mainly for physical IR Tags, larger plans, business use, and premium services.
Can I create a Passport without signing up?
Yes. You can start a Passport as a guest, then claim it to your account when you want to save it permanently and find it again later.
Proof and receipts 4
What can I store in a Passport?
You can store receipts, photos, documents, videos, serial numbers, model numbers, purchase date, store name, price, warranty details, folders, notes, and linked IR Tags.
You can also attach multiple receipts or documents to the same Passport when the evidence is spread across several files.
How does Snap & save work?
Snap & save is for fast receipt capture. Upload or email receipts now, then sort them later when you have time.
Saved receipts land in Waiting to sort. ItemRecover helps you start with the easiest scans first, link receipts to existing Passports, create new Passports from receipts, or keep a receipt safely stored without linking it right away.
What is IR Scan?
IR Scan reads receipts, PDFs, and pictures to extract useful proof details such as merchant, date, amount, product names, serial numbers, and categories.
It saves time, but you should still review important fields before using them for insurance or resale evidence.
What is a Proof Pack?
A Proof Pack is an exportable evidence package for one Passport or your wider vault. It can include receipts, photos, serials, dates, notes, proof score, and ownership history in an insurer-friendly format.
Use it when you need to document a claim, resale, warranty case, police report, or company asset record.
IR Tags and recovery 3
What is ItemRecover QR Tag?
An ItemRecover QR Tag, now usually called an IR Tag, is a physical sticker or tag that links to your item. If someone finds the item, they can scan the tag with a phone camera and contact you through ItemRecover.
Your private contact details are not shown to the finder unless you choose to share them.
How does the IR Tag work if I lose something?
Mark the item as lost or stolen in its Passport. If a finder scans the linked IR Tag or checks an exact identifier, they see a private contact form and can send you a message.
ItemRecover keeps the communication controlled so you can decide how, when, and what to share.
Can I print my own tags?
Yes. You can print basic ItemRecover QR labels yourself. For individual item tracking and more durable use, physical IR Tag sheets from the shop give each item its own unique code.
Privacy and security 3
Is my data secure? Who can see my Passport?
Your Passport is private by default. Only you, people you explicitly share with, or invited team members can see the full contents.
Finders who scan an IR Tag see a limited recovery/contact flow, not your private receipts, documents, identity information, or full vault.
Is there a public missing-items registry?
No, the browsable public missing-items directory is disabled for privacy. We do not want strangers, crawlers, or bad actors browsing a public list of lost or stolen items.
The safer public flow is exact lookup: a finder scans an IR Tag or enters an exact IR Tag, serial, or registry code on the Check Item page, then contacts the owner privately.
100% Anonymous?
The first finder-owner contact can stay anonymous. The finder can send a message through ItemRecover, and you decide what personal details to share, if any.
For recovery, the goal is controlled contact, not public exposure.
Ownership and teams 3
Can I transfer a Passport when I sell an item?
Yes. Use Transfer Ownership from the Passport. The recipient receives an email link, accepts the transfer, and becomes the new registered owner.
The item history, proof, and ownership chain stay intact, which is especially useful for resale and provenance.
Can businesses get a company account?
Yes. Businesses can use ItemRecover for equipment, tools, IT assets, employee handoffs, receipts, IR Tags, and proof packs for accounting or insurance.
See the business pages or contact us if you need bulk tags, multiple users, or company asset workflows.
How is Identity Vault different from Documents?
Identity Vault is for sensitive personal identity documents such as passports, driver licences, national IDs, and expiry reminders.
Documents is for non-ID paperwork such as warranties, manuals, certificates, policies, contracts, appraisals, and item-related documents.

Why does ItemRecover give burglars a hard time?
ItemRecover makes it more difficult for burglars to sell stolen items. When you register your items with ItemRecover, they are assigned a unique serial number and a photo. This information is stored in a database that can be accessed by law enforcement and potential buyers.
ItemRecover also allows users to mark their property with entry stickers that indicate the items have been registered at ItemRecover. This can deter burglars from targeting your property in the first place.
ItemRecover works with law enforcement to track down stolen items. If a stolen item is recovered, ItemRecover can help law enforcement identify the rightful owner.
How much does it cost to have a company account?
As the main goal for ItemRecover is to prevent, protect, and recover, a basic company account is free. If your company wants to have the full benefit of ItemRecover asset management and ItemRecover QR Tags with logo, there will be a fee. Call or email us for more information.
Why does ItemRecover help me document my insurance claim?
Insurance companies often require evidence of what items you own, when you bought them, and at what price. By registering your items with ItemRecover, you can easily create a complete inventory of your belongings to support your insurance claim.
In addition to providing a list of your items, ItemRecover allows you to upload photos and videos of your belongings — helpful for items without serial numbers, such as jewelry or clothes.
- Increased chances of claim approval: Well-documented claims are more likely to be approved.
- Faster claim processing: Everything is organised and ready to share instantly.
- Lower insurance premiums: Some insurers offer discounts to customers who document their belongings.
Can I add items to the ItemRecover registry without a serial number?
Yes, you can add items to the ItemRecover registry without a serial number. However, adding a serial number will increase the chances of recovering your item if it is lost or stolen.
Is ItemRecover free?

How does the Auto receipt scanner work?
